EHS Governance
![]()
Pfizer incorporates protection of the environment, health and safety (EHS) into how we run our business. Environment, Health and Safety policy commitments set our direction and align with our company mission. Our policy is brought to life through strategic and operational decisions made daily by thousands of colleagues, guided by company values and effective management systems.
Environment, health and safety management is about putting Pfizer values into practice every day. Every colleague addresses EHS risks and opportunities within his or her sphere of influence and is supported by EHS professionals who are integrated into our business at every level.
The Pfizer EHS management system provides our framework for excellence. It defines roles and responsibilities and sets objectives and targets to minimize risk and improve performance.
We build good EHS management into our businesses, operating units and facilities worldwide. Formal Management Systems and third party verification help us succeed. Our corporate EHS Management System is based upon the "plan-do-check-act" cycle.
Many facilities have achieved third party recognition of the quality of their management systems through such standards as ISO 14001 and OHSAS 18001, or regional programs that include OSHA VPP and EMAS.
Compliance with all environmental, health and safety laws is imperative to our business worldwide. Pfizer's baseline commitment is to maintain full EHS compliance. Routine internal audits of our sites help ensure compliance and provide a strong driver for continuous improvement.
